TRAMPS ROUND THE MOUNTAINS OF THE MOON AND THROUGH THE BACK GATE OF THE CONGO STATE
Hunter Books
"JL30912" T.Fisher Unwin, London 1908, first edition, 316 pages, profusely illustrated with B &W photographs and drawings, folding map intact. Story of the author's rambles about the great mountain ranges of Central Africa. He answers questions about the customs of the people and the prospects of the country. The blue cover shows wear on the spine. Czech writes: ""While this is primarily a narrative of observation and exploration by a missionary who traveled to Uganda and the Belgian Congo, there are descriptions of encounters with elephants and a marauding lion, and hunting antelopes.""The title on the cover in black is supplemented by a vignette of two natives holding ivory tusks. Gilt lettering on spine is intact but somewhat dull.. There is a bookplate on the front pastedown. Contents are tight but there is occasional foxing. Very Good.  ID#: 4337
